Color Fearlessly
Clairol and RGA conducted a survey of women’s confidence and discovered confidence
comes from a sense of fearlessness.
The Results
85% of women felt more confident after coloring, and 97% said they checked themselves out more. 81% said they felt beautiful. 77% said they felt they could be more confident at work and 65% said they’d speak confidently in a meeting. One woman was even motivated to ask for a raise – and she got it!
The Approach
In order to launch the behemoth beauty brand into the 21st century, Clairol wanted to address the reasons behind women’s declining confidence — and create a community of real women to inspire each other. That’s why Clairol and RGA conducted the world’s largest survey of women’s confidence and discovered that the majority of women felt the most confident when they were fearless.
When they were fearless, these women felt like they could tackle anything. After digging through their survey results, we compiled the data and selected the most interesting statistics. Then, we asked the women from the survey to visualize these statistics in a living data visualization for our anthem film.
And their biggest barrier to trying Clairol’s Nice ‘N Easy hair color? Fear. Fear of allergic reactions. Fear of messing it up. Fear of picking the wrong color. Fear. All these everyday fears were adding up, overshadowing our women’s true power. Fear of coloring their hair wrong was the start. Soon, real women were telling us about their fear of not getting a promotion if they asked for it. Fear of never meeting the right guy. Fear of not being their true self. Suddenly, we had it.
